BRADFORD, Pa. – It was a banner day for the Warren girls cross country team at the Bradford Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Katie Beyer took first place with a time of 20:38 and the Lady Dragons (33) outdistanced second-place Kane for the overall team title.

It was also a big day for the Lady Dragons freshmen, led by Shyann Rulander, who finished eighth. Bri Ristau also finished in the top 10.

The boys finished sixth in the team standings and got another excellent performance from senior Devon Navaroli, who finished fourth overall with a time of 17:42. Graham Carr was 13th in 18:29.

The junior high girls finished second overall and the boys third. Hailey Peterson for the girls and Hugh Harrison for the boys both finished third overall.

“We had a great showing at this meet. We didn’t have our top girls team today, but everyone who ran and finished stepped up big time to do what they had to pull off this win,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin.

“It’s always great to see a team pull together when you need it most. Katie Beyer ran an outstanding race from start to finish winning the race in only her second race ever.

“Devon Navaroli ran a gutsy race and it paid off for him. The team as a whole is really starting to understand how important their roles are and we keep making positive growth as a team. Excited to race at home this Tuesday.”

The Dragons welcome Union City and Fort LeBoeuf on Tuesday.

For Youngsville, meanwhile, Julia Bojaczko led the girls with a 15th place finish (23:08), while Phoenix Lindell was 31st for the boys (19:28).
