UNION CITY, Pa. – Austin Jaquith scored four times on the ground as Union City beat Eisenhower 42-13 in the Region 2 opener for both teams on Friday.

The Bears scored the first 28 points of the game and never looked back.

Things took an ominous turn for the Knights (0-2 overall, 0-1 Region 2) on the opening kickoff, as the Bears recovered a fumble to get the ball deep in Eisenhower territory. Moments later, Logan Kesselring scored on a 6-yard run.

It was one of three Knight fumbles in the first half, all of which resulted in Union City touchdowns.

Eisenhower was stymied on their first offensive possession of the game, and Jaquith capped a long drive on the Bears’ (1-1, 1-0) ensuing possession with a 1-yard TD plunge.

Dillon Benson returned the kickoff into UC territory after Jaquith’s first touchdown, and the Knights drove it inside the UC 15 before a fumble gave the Bears the ball back. A 50-yard scamper from Caleb Stull set up Jaquith’s second touchdown of the evening to make it 21-0.

Eisenhower again fumbled in its own territory on their next possession and, after a long run by Kesselring, Jaquith found pay dirt for the third time in the half.

The Knights got on the board at the 8:21 mark of the second quarter, courtesy of Dillon Benson, who hauled in a 6-yard scoring strike from Owen Trumbull.

Jaquith opened the third-quarter scoring with a 49 yard run, followed by a 51-yard bomb from Trumbull to Benson got Eisenhower within 21, 34-13.

The Bears tacked on a touchdown in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.

The Knights will go in search of their first win when they travel to Mercer next Friday.
