Barr approved as Athletic Coordinator at Youngsville

The Warren County School District approved several athletic supplemental contracts on Monday while accepting the resignation of two coaches.

Most notable was the approval of Mike Barr as the new Athletic Coordinator at Youngsville High School. Barr takes over for Corey Copley, who assumed the role at Youngsville in addition to having the same position at Sheffield Area Middle/High School.

Memorable athletic highlights for YHS in the 2018-19 school year included the resurgence of the boys basketball program, which finished the regular season .500 and played in the District 10 playoffs, as well having a pair of state qualifiers in track and field – Jake Hogg and Naomi Swartzbaugh. Hogg went on to win a state medal in the high jump.

For Warren Area High School, Kim Parroccini was approved as an assistant tennis coach. Parroccini is coming off a standout tennis career at Lycoming College and will join her father, head coach John Parroccini.

Elsewhere, Eisenhower will be looking for a pair of basketball coaches, as head boys coach Ryan Williams and assistant girls coach Barry Lundmark stepped down from their posts.

In two seasons with the Knights, Williams compiled a record of 18-27 in his two seasons at the helm, including a 16-7 mark in 2017-18, led by 1,000-point scorer Jaydon Hayes, that included a second-place finish in Region 3 and a District 10 playoff appearance

Lundmark, meanwhile, steps down after serving under head girls coach Mike Logue.
