Steelheads fall in 17U World Series

Despite tagging N.C. State commit Drew Fletcher for four three runs (one earned) in four innings, the Erie Steelheads 17U Prospects fell in the quarterfinals of the 17U World Series to the top-seed East Coast Clippers.

Trailing 6-1 going into the third inning, Warren product Nick Hussey settled things down on the mound. He allowed two runs in four innings, on two hits and two walks while striking out a pair.

The Steelheads battled back thanks to Matt Shepard (McDowell, 2-for-3, 2 RBI, SB), Warren’s Ryan Rafalski (2-for-3, double, run, HBP), Warren’s Mitch Grosch (1-for-4, RBI, R) Jared Bielanin (McDowell, 1-for-2, RBI, R, BB) and Cam Williamson (Harbor Creek, 1-for-4, double). Casey Smith (Harbor Creek) also drove in a run.

Beaty fall sports practices
