Knights top Bobcats

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Eisenhower softball got the bats going late and defeated Seneca, 8-3, to pick up its third win in four games.

The Bobcats (2-10 overall, 0-6 Region 2) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first, but the Knights (4-10, 2-4) plated four in the fourth and two more in the fifth to put the game out of reach. They tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh.

“We started a little slow with the bats, but after the first time through the order we picked up the pitching and hit well,” Eisenhower assistant coach Amber Fox said. “We were selective at the plate.”

Alexis Courtney picked up the win on the mound and helped her cause offensively with two hits and five RBI. Shelby Kuzminski was 4-4 with a triple and three runs scored and Lexi Head had a pair of hits, scored twice and drove in a run.

“It’s nice to see them playing as a strong team,” Eisenhower coach Rich Pascuzzi said. “I wish we could have started playing this strong earlier in the season.”

The Lady Knights hit the road today for a Region 2 contest at Iroquois.
