Four more Knights qualify for districts
TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Titsuville’s track and field teams secured the Region 4 title with a sweep of visiting Eisenhower Tuesday.
The Lady Rockets defeated the Lady Knights, 102-47, while the boys won 95-55. The sweep capped an undefeated season for both teams.
Eisenhower had four more athletes qualify for the District 10 meet. Aleea Giese in the 400 and Delaney Nizzi in in the triple jump for the girls and Joey Bauer for discus and Thomas Baran in the pole vault for the boys. Baran is the third Knights vaulter to qualify for districts. He’ll join teammates Alex Barnett and Caroline Smelko in the event.
“It was good weather for a meet,” Eisenhower coach Darlene Beach said. “We did get some more kids qualified for districts, and had a few other kids who improved times or distances.”
Giese’s qualifying time in the 400 was also good enough to earn her a first place finish. Currie Hultman took first in the discus and javelin and Lydia Giannini won the shot put.
Bauer won both the discus and the javelin, while Baran took first in the pole vault. On the track, Nate Holt took first in the 100 and Alex Hummel won the 800.
The Knights now turn their attention to the annual Warren County Meet scheduled for Thursday.
“You always want to do well at the Warren County Meet,” Beach said. “It’s a chace to get a personal or season best, and maybe a trip to districts.”
