Warren routs Slippery Rock in D-10 title game rematch

Celia Chase had 3 RBI in Warren's 11-1 win over Slippery Rock on Wednesday.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – After a two-hour bus ride, it took Warren’s bats a little time to get going. When they did, the Dragons used a 10-run fourth inning en route to an 11-1 win in a rematch of last season’s D-10 Class 4A title game.

Warren and Slippery Rock traded RBI hits from Celia Chase and the Rock’s Julianna Hutchinson before Warren broke out. Chase and Hoffman keyed the 10-run inning with doubles.

Lex Nyquist finished with three hits, and Chase, Ellie Lobdell, Gracie Wood, Grace Wortman, and Morgan Munksgard two each for Warren (3-1). Lobdell scattered four hits in five innings, striking out eight.

“It took us a couple innings to adjust to Frazier, who had us out in front, but when we did adjust, we did it in a hurry,” said Warren coach Jon Sitler. “I was proud of that, and also of our small game, base running, pitching and defense. Slippery Rock is a nice win.”

Warren won the JV contest, 9-6. Alix Lytle was 3-for-3 with three RBI.

Kelsey Stuart struck out seven for the win, helped by solid defense from shortstop Meredith Morrison. Rylie Yeager and Ellee Irwin tripled, and Katie Madigan and Alex Neureiter had doubles in the win.

Warren hosts Titusville today.
