Ike drops Region 2 battle to Northwestern
One bad inning was all it took for Northwestern to beat Eisenhower in Thursday’s Region 3 battle.
The Wildcats scored eight runs in the third frame en route to a 13-0, five-inning win over the Lady Knights.
All of those runs came after Eisenhower pitcher Lexi Head retired the first two batters of the inning. Head pitched well, striking out six in her five innings of work.
Kayla Greene, Alexis Courtney and Brittany Smith all had hits for Ike, with Greene also making several nice plays in center field. That strong defense extended to Maddie Fetzeck as well, as the EHS second baseman made a diving play on a line drive in the third.
Shelby Kuzminski also reached base for Eisenhower via walk.
The Lady Knights return to action on Saturday against Youngsville.
