Dragon netters fall to Erie High

Erie’s boys tennis team earned a hard-fought 4-1 win at Warren Thursday.

The Royals swept the singles matches and split doubles with the Dragons.

Anthony Villela was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Caleb Ei at first singles. Matthew Prenovitz picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win against Tyler Howard at second. Luke Stolarski battled his way to a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, win over AJ Seyler at third.

“It was good for our team to see top level players,” Warren coach Travis Myler said.

At first doubles, Dan Wolford and Nick D’Andrea won 6-1, 7-5 against Eli Korb and Thomas Lucks. Wes Kiehl and Stephen Ashbaugh won via forfeit at second doubles for the Dragons’ lone victory.

“We know that our guys will take this as a learning experience to continue improving,” Warren associate coach Thomas Pellegrino said. “Our guys are ready to finish the year with a flourish.”

Warren falls to 8-3 on the season. The Dragons travel to Oil City Monday before hosting Elk County Catholic Tuesday.
