The public is encouraged to attend a send-off for the Warren Lady Dragons along Fifth Ave. at 2 p.m. today. Signs are encouraged.

The Lady Dragons are traveling to Meadville to take on Slippery Rock for the District 10 Class 5A championship (5:30 p.m. tip time).

With a win, Warren would capture its second District 10 title of the 2018-19 school year. The volleyball team beat Conneaut in the D-10 title on their way to making a run all the way to the state championship game.

In what could only be considered good karma, they also won their D-10 championship at Meadville High School.

The day at Meadville kicks off with the 2A consolation game at 1 p.m. between Cambridge Springs and Saegertown at 1 p.m., followed by West Middlesex vs. Maplewood in the 2A title game at 2:30, then the 5A consolation game between General McLane and Hickory at 4.

“I would say to anybody that is thinking about going, you’d be nuts not to go,” said Warren coach Lisa LaVan “I think that there’s nothing better, in my mind than watching student-athletes display what they work so hard for. I hope our community comes out. The girls deserve it, they work so hard and it would just be awesome to have people there. I know Slippery Rock is going to have an enormous turnout. They support their girls basketball program and I’m hoping we have the same.”
