Dragons’ opener bumped up to today
Warren pitcher Nick Hussey fires a pitch to the plate during a scrimmage against Frewsburg (NY) at Legion Field, Monday, March 25, 2019. Hussey pitched a scoreless inning and also drove in three runs as the Dragons got a chance to face live pitching from an opponent prior to their season and home opener April 3 against Erie.
The Warren Area High School baseball team will begin its much anticipated 2019 season sooner than expected.
A schedule change sees the Dragons traveling to Franklin today to take on the Knights, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The game was originally scheduled for April 22, but was moved up because of the expected nice weather and the fact that it breaks up a week in which the Dragons were scheduled to play four games.
The Dragons return a talented core of players, led by seniors Aidan Morrison, Austyn Cummings and Lance Baldensperger and juniors Mitch Grosch, Ryan Rafalski, Nick Hussey, Ryan Arnold, Hunter Loomis and Tyler Gustafson Sophomores Ben Berdine, Micah Passmore and James Swanson are also expected to have a big impact.
