Dippold set to run cross country at Gannon
Trenten Dippold was a standout cross country runner for the Warren Dragons.
In the fall, he will be a student-athlete at Gannon University, entering the accelerated Physician Assistant program, as well as competing for the cross country team.
The decision to run in college is one that came after this year’s high school cross country season ended.
“Shortly after cross country season ended, I realized I missed the sports a lot more than I thought I would,” Dippold said. “I reached out to the Gannon cross country coach, John Carrig, and asked him about their program. He gave me the information and instantly welcomed me to the team.”
Dippold will be a welcome addition for the Golden Knights’ program, as he capped his high school career with a strong showing at the District 10 championships.
It’s a perfect match for a young man who is always on the go.
“At school, I’m a member of student council, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Academic Bowl, Battle of the Books, track, swim team, art club, SAAD and yearbook,” he said. “In my church, I altar serve and take part in mission trips.”
And when he’s not doing one any of those things, you can find him working during the summer at Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool as a lifeguard.
In short, Gannon is getting an incredibly driven person, and coach Carrig is adding a highly motivated runner to his already talented roster.
“I enjoy running because it is very meditative and allows me to de-stress after a long day,” Dippold said.
“I also love races and the excitement and adrenaline I get from them.”
