Sheffield girls fall to Curwensville

A slow start for Sheffield was a major factor in a 58-22 loss to Curwensville in Girls Basketball Friday night.

“We had a sluggish start which hurt. They came out ready to run and we just had a tough time keeping up,” said Sheffield coach Brandon Troutman.

Curwensville’s Maddie Weber dropped a game high 25, 10 of which came in the Lady Tide’s big first quarter.

“We’ve had our struggles in the transition game this year, and that got us tonight, especially early. The kids battled though. We’ve had our chances to fold, and each game over the last couple of weeks these kids have had each other’s backs,” Troutman added.

Emily Leichtenberger tallied her first career double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

“Emily’s really came on as of late, she’s finding her way being an undersized kid playing in the post, she makes up for size with strength,” Troutman said.

Sheffield wraps up its season Tuesday, traveling to Ridgway.
