Four Knights, one Eagle advance to Section I semis
Cael Black was one of four Eisenhower Knights to advance to the semifinals of the Section I tournament.
MEADVILLE, Pa. – Eisenhower’s Logan Jaquay, Alex Barnett, Cael Black and Joey Bauer, as well as Youngsville’s Jake DeSimone are through to the semifinals at the District 10 Section I Tournament.
Jaquay (113), Barnett (160), Black (195), Bauer (220) and DeSimone (285) will all wrestle again after the second round of consolations this morning.
“The four guys that made it to the semis did a great job, they wrestled really well,” said Eisenhower coach Kris Black. “I was really happy for them.”
And then there are Jake Williams, Easton Hedman, Gannon Jaquay, Josh Bortz, Garrett Head, Nate Holt, Ethan Chambers, Tristen Wilcox and Jesse Gourley, who are all still alive for a top seven berth and a trip to districts.
“Jesse Gourley lost a heartbreakter in overtime, he wrestled really well,” Black said.
“Those guys have to find a way to be in that top seven. They all have a good shot at doing that. They have to win the first one. The plan is to get a good warm-up and have the right mindset. Hopefully they can achieve that tomorrow and I think they will. We didn’t have the best night by any means but we’re looking forward to getting after it.”
