ERIE, Pa. – Through three matches Monday, Erie held a 12-6 lead over visiting Warren.

The Dragons rattled off eight straight wins from that point, five via pinfall and all with bonus points, en route to a 58-22 victory over the Royals.

“We were happy with our performance tonight,” Warren assistant coach Paul Streich said. “We were aggressive and got a bunch of bonus points.”

Joey Arnold got Warren (6-4 overall, 2-1 Region 5) off to a quick start when he decked Geremia Parker in just 44 seconds at 195.

The Royals (0-4, 0-2) won the next two contests via pinfall before Connor Papalia picked up a forfeit win at 106.

Christian Papalia followed with a first period pin of Aiden Northup and Avery Smith won a 13-2 major decision at 120. Ryan Madigan (126), Alex Anderson (132) and Donovan Fiscus (138) all won with first period pinfalls to stake the Dragons to a 40-12 lead.

“Christian Papalia had a nice win against a kid he lost to earlier in the season,” Streich said.

Austin Hayes (145) won via forfeit and Kyle Swick decked Jacob Blunt in the second at 152 before Patrick Young won a 16-3 major decision over John Fankhouser at 160 to give the Royals some team points.

Zack Zinger picked up Warren’s final victory of the night at 170. Fittingly enough, he pinned Javon Evans in the first period.

The win likely secures a spot in the District 10 Duals for the Dragons.

“That was one of our team goals at the beginning of the season,” Streich said.

Warren is right back on the road again today as the Dragons travel to Cranberry looking to avenge an early season loss to the Berries.
