Warren cruises past Meadville
Emma Ruhlman recorded her sixth double-double of the season in a 64-40 win over Meadville on Saturday.
The Warren Lady Dragons had a run to start Saturday’s game against Meadville much like they did against Corry on Thursday.
After jumping out to a 20-0 lead two days earlier, they opened Saturday’s contest on a 17-0 spurt and coasted to a 64-40 victory.
Margo Loutzenhiser poured in a game-high 26 points, while Emma Ruhlman had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the sixth double-double of her freshman season.
Twelve players saw action for Warren (14-1), and coach Lisa LaVan was happy with the effort.
“I was really pleased with our bench,” she said. “I thought they did a really good job.”
The Dragons were also 30-of-35 from the free throw line, including perfect efforts from Loutzenhiser (12-of-12), Ruhlman (7-of-7) and Kelsey Stuart (4-of-4).
Riley Childress led the team with five steals and LaVan was very pleased with the defensive effort as a whole.
“We played great team defense,” she said. “They knew the game plan and executed it.”
Tye Johnson led Meadville (9-8) with 10 points.
The second half of Region 6 play begins today for Warren when they host Fort LeBoeuf.
