Tidioute battles past Commodore Perry

HADLEY, Pa. – Tidioute started off hot and withheld a furious Commodore Perry run in the second half for a 44-40 Region 1 win on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs led by 10 at halftime, but Commodore Perry outscored them 10-2 to tie it going into the fourth.

“We played a very good first half and played the way we wanted to play,” said Tidioute coach Terry Cotterman. “In the third quarter they made a couple shots and we weren’t hitting.”

In the first half, Alex Sabella came off the bench and made a couple of big 3’s to help the Bulldogs (11-5 overall, 2-1 Region 1) extend the lead.

And, after the struggle in the third quarter, the Bulldogs weren’t concerned at all.

“These kids don’t panic,” Cotterman said. “We were tied going in the fourth and took care of the ball and took care of business.”

Jared Veasey, despite physical defense against him all night, finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds, while Patrick Shields had 11 points, 13 rebounds, 3 steals and 4 assists.

Maison Deloe had eight rebounds and Derek Klos three steals. Ryan Williams added six points despite battling the flu bug.

Jared Mink had 11 points to pace Commodore Perry.

Next up for Tidioute is a re-match with Jamestown at home on Friday, and it’s one Tidioute is looking forward to.

“They know they didn’t play their best the first time around (against Jamestown) and I like the way we’re playing now,” Cotterman said.
