TCCS falls at UC

UNION CITY, Pa. – Eliza Reynolds scored 16 of her game-high 24 points in the first quarter to lead Union City to a 54-36 win over visiting Tidioute Charter Saturday.

TCCS’s Nakiesha Krouse also scored 24 points, but the early deficit was too much for the Bulldogs to overcome.

“We couldn’t claw our way out despite our best efforts,” TCCS coach Christy Valentine said.

Reynolds’ 16 were part of a 24-point first quarter for the Bears and they held a 39-14 lead at the half. TCCS flipped the script a bit in the third quarter as the Bulldogs outscored the Bears, 15-8, but only managed seven in the final frame.

“(Angelina) Sabella and Krouse contributed during a good third quarter,” Valentine said. “The girls continue to keep their heads up and play hard despite being undermanned. We have several girls playing at the varsity level who need more time to develop at the JV level, but aren’t getting that time. We are definitely going through growing pains.”

TCCS makes the short trip to Youngsville today for a matchup with the Eagles.

Union City won the junior varsity game, 36-9. Sabella had a team-high five points in the loss.
