Saegertown buries 11 3’s to rally past Youngsville; Ike falls

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Eli Draa made three of Saegertown’s 11 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Panthers rallied for a 61-55 Region 3 victory over Youngsville on Tuesday.

The 3-pointers helped offset a monster game by Youngsville’s (6-7 overall, 1-4 Region 3) Gage Hendrickson, who poured in a game-high 28 points.

The Eagles led 31-24 at haltime.

“Good teams extend a 12-point fist half lead to 20, they don’t give it away,” said Youngsville coach Jesse DeLoof.

Both Draa and Max Fuller, the latter of whom had 22 points on seven 3’s and a free throw, were crucial for Saegertown (6-5, 2-3) down the stretch.

Timber Bower added eight points for Youngsville, Joe Mack seven and Brady Olewine six.

The two teams were tied for fourth in the region standings coming into the game.

“As a coaching staff we will take ownership for this loss,” DeLoof said. “We clearly didn’t communicate well enough on who their shooters are. This was evident by 11 3’s, seven of them coming from Fuller.”

The Eagles look to bounce back on Friday when they host county rival Eisenhower in another Region 3 battle.
