COCHRANTON, Pa. – Cochranton had four players score in double figures en route to a 60-39 Region 2 win over Eisenhower on Saturday.

That being said, the Lady Knights (4-7 overall, 2-4 Region 2), after spotting Cochranton a 14-3 lead in the first quarter, hung with the Region 2 contender from late in the second quarter on until the finish.

“We came out kind of slow and sluggish,” said Eisenhower coach Mike Logue. “We had a chance early, had some shots that would have kept us in the game, but they just didn’t fall.

“From about two and a half minutes to go in the second quarter on, we started to fight back. (Delaney) Chase hit a 3, we went in at halftime and regrouped and came out and basically played them even in the second half.”

They certainly did, with Cochranton holding a 31-29 edge.

Cassidee Egil led a very balanced effort for the Lady Cardinals (6-4, 4-2) with 12 points.

Chase poured in 13 points for Eisenhower, while Lydia Giannini had another huge game with 14 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks. Emiley Wheeler also had 12 points for EHS, while Chase dished out five assists.

“I’m proud of how they battled,” Logue said. “We played hard in their gym.”

Eisenhower returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Union City.
