Lady Dragons start 2019 with convincing win vs. Jamestown

- Emma Ruhlman recorded her sixth double-double of the season in a 64-40 win over Meadville on Saturday.
And that was about the only thing that went wrong for the Lady Dragons in a decisive 62-30 win over visiting Jamestown (N.Y.).
Warren opened with an 11-0 run and led 18-6 after the first quarter.
“It was another game to keep working on things,” Warren coach Lisa LaVan said.
The Red Raiders hit a 3-pointer in the second quarter, but the Lady Dragons were dominant from start to finish. Warren’s defense swarmed Jamestown and created turnover after turnover. The Lady Dragons often had a choice to run a fast break or slow down and run an offensive set play. Warren held a 35-14 lead at the half.

Emma Ruhlman recorded her sixth double-double of the season in a 64-40 win over Meadville on Saturday.
“I told the girls to just keep doing what you’re doing,” LaVan said.
Warren had a fast break opportunity early in the third quarter, but the ball sailed over Loutzenhiser’s head. The senior made a leap for the ball, turned in mid-air and gave a perfect pass to Emma Ruhlman for an easy layup.
Loutzenhiser’s 22-point performance moved her past Angela Pellegrino (1,221) on the Lady Dragons all-time scoring list. She now sits fourth all-time with 1,229 career points, just 101 behind Jaimie Eaton (1,330) for third place.
Ruhlman also scored in double figures with 16 points and led the team with seven rebounds. Riley Childress added five points and seven assists.
“Riley has been playing an unbelievable point guard,” LaVan said. “She’s one of the best defenders in District 10.”
Sierra Matson and Teagan Paris each finished with six points.
“Sierra and Teagan did a nice job off the bench,” LaVan said.
Warren hosts Bradford Saturday in a 2:30 p.m. matinee.
The Lady Dragons won the junior varsity contest 39-23.
Paris had a game-high 15 points, while Halee Mineweaser added 13 and Katie Madigan had nine in the win.
