Ike girls fall to Iroquois

LAWRENCE PARK, Pa. – Warren County teams are getting tired of seeing Iroquois’ Angelina Meola.

A day after torching Tidioute for 41 points, Meola poured in 33 more as the Braves beat Eisenhower 72-40.

That offset another big game for Eisenhower’s Lydia Giannini, who scored 25 points of her own and pulled down 17 rebounds.

“Our youth caused us to have some turnovers and that led to some easy buckets for Angelina Meola,” said Eisenhower coach Mike Logue. “We fought to the end again. I’m proud of that.”

Meola is a quadruplet, whose other two sisters, Jasmine and Desiree, had 15 and eight points respectively.

Iroquois (10-3 overall, 6-2 Region 2) led 22-8 after the first quarter and 33-15 at halftime.

Giannini also had four assists and three steals, while Emiley Wheeler had seven points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal.

Eisenhower (5-9, 3-6) returns to action Tuesday at Saegertown.
