Eagles fall at Region 3 leader Union City

UNION CITY, Pa. – Youngsville got an up close and personal look at the first-place team in the Region 3 standings on Friday, falling at Union City 74-35.

Bronnan Higley, a 6-6 senior forward, poured in 20 points for Union City (9-2 overall, 5-0 Region 3), one of four Bears in double figures.

Union City led 21-13 at the end of one quarter, but poured it on in the second, outscoring the Eagles (6-6, 1-3) 23-8 to take complete command.

Gage Hendrickson led Youngsville with nine points.

“We can’t let a loss to a better team spill over into next week,” said Youngsville coach Jesse DeLoof. “We need to regroup and have a good practice and be ready for Tuesday.

“We saw tonight that we still have a long way to go and need to keep improving and that needs to happen this year. One day at a time.”

The Eagles return to action Tuesday at Saegertown.
