Union City bests Tidioute

TIONESTA, Pa. – A cold shooting night was too much for the Tidioute Charter girls to overcome in a 52-38 loss to Union City in the Forest Area Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday.

Nakiesha Krouse had 12 points and four steals and Shelby Proctor 11 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs.

Eliza Reynolds led a strong Union City attack with 17 points.

“Cold shooting, bad passing, and lack of stamina froze us out,” said Tidioute coach Christy Valentine. “The girls will need to string 4 quarters of good play to compete this year. The lack of stamina and a small bench did us in. The girls played hard but could not stop Union City’s Eliza Reynolds strong shooting performance.

“Kelsey Nuttal played a tough game inside and pulled down 9 rebounds.”

Krouse and Union City’s Marissa Mattocks, who had eight points, were both named to the All-Tournament team.

Tidioute returns to action with a county battle against Youngsville on Tuesday and has Cambridge Springs on Thursday, both at home.
