Tidioute girls fall to Cambridge Springs

Cambridge Springs showed why it is one of the top teams in District 10 with a 69-23 win at Tidioute Thursday.

The Lady Blue Devils raced out to a 26-10 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

“We do not have a lot of experience going against a team who is such a powerhouse,” TCCS coach Christy Valentine said. “We will look at it as a learning experience and the fact the girls played hard all four quarters tonight.”

Cambridge Springs took advantage of 32 TCCS turnovers and the Lady Blue Devils outrebounded the Lady Bulldogs to create transition and second-chance opportunities.

“The girls need to improve both their offensive and defensive rebounding, as well as passing in order to stay competitive,” Valentine said.

Ashton Hoover had a game-high 15 points for Cambridge Springs and Rachel Swanson added 11 in the win.

Nakiesha Krouse had a team-high 11 points for TCCS, including three 3-pointers. Sunny Henderson chipped in eight points.

TCCS will head north Monday for a cross county clash with Eisenhower.

Cambridge won the junior varsity contest 56-7.
