HARBORCREEK, Pa. – In a hard-fought Region 5 battle at Harbor Creek, the Warren Dragon wrestlers dropped a 37-33 decision to the host Huskies.

There were a number of impressive performances from the Dragons, including wins by Mabrukhe Tagba (182, forfeit), Jake Hayes (220, pin), Billy Anderson (285, forfeit), Christian Papalia (113, forfeit), Ryan Madigan (126, decision) and John Fankhouser (152) pin.

“I was very proud of the team tonight. They are coming together and improving each day and each match,” said Warren assistant coach Paul Streich. “We were able to gain a few more bonus points this week with 3 forfeits and pins from Jake Hayes and John Fankhouser. I’m very happy for Jake. He works very hard, has a great attitude, and he is beginning to scratch the surface of his abilities.

“John continues to be a great leader for us both on the mat and off. He also works extremely hard and sets a great example to follow. We have a short turnaround before heading to Erie High on Saturday for 5 matches. All of our guys will see action during the day.”

The Dragons are indeed back in action on Saturday at the Tom Carr Duals.

Their schedule from Erie High School is as follows: Girard (9:30 a.m.), Seneca (10:45 a.m.), North East (Noon), JV and exhibition matches (1:15 p.m.), Cranberry (2 p.m.), Erie High (3:15 p.m.).
