Fresh off their first state playoff win in program history on Tuesday against Central Valley, Warren knew their next opponent would be Thomas Jefferson on Saturday, after TJ knocked off DuBois in three sets.

Now they know when and where.

The Dragons and Jaguars will play at Punxsutawney High School at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the PIAA Class 3A quarterfinals.

The matchup is the second of four quarterfinals contests at Punxsy on Saturday, with a distinct District 10 feel.

The day gets started at noon in Class 2A when Corry battles Bald Eagle Area, followed by Warren-TJ, then a pair of 1A matchups – Cochranton vs. Bishop Carroll at 3:30 and Clarion vs. Northern Cambria at 5.

The other 3A quarterfinal matchup on Warren’s side of the bracket features Knoch, the defending state champions and winners of 46 straight matches, squaring off with Dover out of District 3 in York County, making this not quite a true East-West bracket.

On the other side of the bracket on Saturday, Villa Maria Academy (District 1 champion) takes on Allentown Central Catholic (District 11 champion) at Quakertown High School (2:30 p.m.) and West York (District 3 champion) battles Pope John Paul II (District 1 runner-up) at Governor Mifflin H.S. at 3 p.m.

Warren, Thomas Jefferson, West York, Pope John Paul II and Villa all won in three sets in the first round, while Knoch beat Elizabeth Forward, Dover knocked off Somerset and Allentown CC bested Palmyra, with those matches going four sets.

The semifinals will be on Tuesday (sites, times TBA) and the state championship match will be next Saturday at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg at 3:30 p.m.

The schedule at Cumberland Valley for the finals starts with 1A at 10:30 a.m., followed by 2A (1 p.m.), then 3A and 4A at 6.
