Hahn, Ristau head to Hershey
Warren juniors Naomi Hahn (left) and Bri Ristau finished 4th and 11th at the District 10 cross country championships on Saturday at Sharon’s Buhl Park, qualifying for states.
Warren Area High School’s junior duo of Naomi Hahn and Bri Ristau will run one final time this season at the biggest cross country stage in Pennsylvania.
Both qualified for the PIAA championships with their 4th and 11 place finishes at the District 10 Class 3A championships last Saturday.
Now, they embark on Hershey and the Hershey Park today, with the 2A girls race getting underway at 10:15 a.m., the second race of the day following the 1A girls.
There’s a bit of a twist, however, as due to wet conditions that have diminished the course, the backup course will now be used.
There are 36 lane assignments, and Hahn and Ristau will be in lane 33 along with runners from Belle Vernon (District 7, WPIAL) and Lewisburg (District 4).
The teams that qualified and have their full allotment of runners are as follows: Archbishop Wood, Avonworth, Central Cambria, Danville, Donegal, Fairview, Greensburg-Salem, Honesdale, Bonner-Prendergast, Northern, Northwestern Lehigh, Pope John Paul II, South Fayette, St. Marys, Valley View, Villa (District 10) and Wyomissing.
This will be the third time Hahn has competed at the PIAA championships and the second time for Ristau.
The 2A girls race will be followed the 3A girls and then the three boys races.
Other runners in the 2A girls race who figure to factor into the equation, along with Hahn and Ristau, are Sharon’s Gianna Labbiento, the D-10 champ, as well as Maddison Hayes (Fairview), Meara Shannon (Conneaut), Madeline Curtis (Harbor Creek), Anna Alberti (General McLane), Leah Prischak (Villa), Devyn Bayle (General McLane), Olivia Mumford (Oil City), Lauren Bortzer (Oil City), Harley Pflugh (Slippery Rock) and Lauryn Oliver (Meadville).
