Warren, Youngsville race North East at fairgrounds

Warren’s Kayla Giambrone leads North East’s Maddie Hartner as they aproach the final stretch of Wednesday’s cross country race at the Warren County Fairgrounds. Giambrone finished second overall and Hartner third.

On a beautiful day for a cross country race at the Warren County Fairgrounds, Warren topped Youngsville in the boys race, while the Dragons’ Naomi Hahn and Kayla Giambrone finished 1-2 for the girls.

North East swept the boys race, led by Josh Lewis, a District 10 and state title contender, who took first with a time of 16:53.1.

Nate Eadie led the Warren boys with a fifth place finish (17:55.7), followed by Graham Carr in seventh in a race that was pushed back a day due to severe weather on Tuesday.

Ryen Sutton (19th) and Dominic Walton (22nd) were the first two Eagles to cross the finish line.

The girls race didn’t feature any team scoring, but it was another strong showing for the Warren girls, led by Hahn (20:05.6) and Giambrone (20:49.3), while Bri Ristau took fourth.

Youngsville’s Julia Bojaczko raced to a fifth place finish.

Youngsville freshman Julia Bojaczko had another strong race to lead her team, finishing fifth with a time of 24:43.3.

In the junior high race, the Warren girls raced to a 21-34 win over North East, as Lauren Dolan, Audry Smith and Eliza Brook finished 1-2-3.

Warren’s Grant Heeter won the junior high boys race.
