Warren volleyball receives first round playoff bye

The Warren Area High School volleyball team is one of several squads that will begin their quest for a D-10 title this week.

The Warren Lady Dragons, the newly minted Region 6 volleyball champions and No. 10 Class 3A team in Pennsylvania, had their path to a potential District 10 championship revealed when D-10 released its playoff brackets Wednesday.

Warren, which is 13-0 in regular season (non-tournament) play, will receive a bye to the quarterfinal round, where they will meet the winner of Grove City, the fourth place team from Region 4 and Franklin.

They have two regular season contests left – the home finale and Senior Night against McDowell Thursday, and at DuBois on Saturday.

The quarterfinal match will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, at a site and time to be determined. The first round match between Grove City and Franklin will be on Tuesday.

On the bottom half of Warren’s end of the bracket, General McLane and Hickory, both of whom received byes, will meet in the quarterfinals.

Region 4 champion Conneaut tops the other side of the bracket, and they will meet the winner of Villa and Slippery Rock in the quarterfinals. Harbor Creek and Meadville both received first round byes and will square off in the quarters.

Warren is seeking the first District 10 title in program history.

Class A

Eisenhower (7-7) and Tidioute Charter (5-8) both are in the Class A field, and will open play on Tuesday.

The two teams met on Wednesday, with Eisenhower coming out on top.

Eisenhower, the No. 5 seed from Region 3, will open with Commodore Perry (8-7), the No. 4 seed from Region 1. The winner will play Cochranton, the No. 2 ranked Class A team in the state, in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Tidioute, meanwhile, is on the bottom half, but the same side of the bracket as the Lady Knights.

They will play Jamestown (13-3), which has dropped just one set in winning its last seven matches.

Starting at $3.50/week.
