Sheffield drops season finale to O-E

Nicholas Knowles breaks from the role of lineman to carry the ball in the closing minutes of Saturday’s loss to visiting Otto-Eldred.
Otto-Eldred’s Cole Sebastian threw for four touchdowns and ran for another in a 47-8 win over Sheffield on Saturday.
The Wolverines also gave up a 30-yard interception return for a score and a 70-yard second half kickoff return for one as well.
Sebastian completed 7-of-13 passes for 205 yards, while running for 75. Two of Cole Sebastian’s touchdown passes went to his brother Chase, who finished the game with 113 receiving yards.
Sheffield’s lone touchdown in the game came with just 43 seconds left on the clock, when quarterback Steve Lojewski hit Caden Smead for a 36 yard score followed up with a Nicholas Knowles 2-point conversion run, preventing a shutout on Sheffield’s Senior Day
“All year long we’ve thrown a lot of picks, and did a lot of things like that, so to be able to do that and actually execute the way it needs to be done, ended up as a score for those kids,” said Sheffield head coach Chris Korbar. “Then to get Nick in the endzone on the 2-point, means a lot to that kid.”

Christian Richetti looks for a lane on a muddy Wolverine Mountain.
Despite the loss, and defeated season, Korbar is far from defeated, feeling optimistic for next year already.
“I think the kids that are here that are going to be here next year, we got to see some stuff and their heart and emotion is still there,” said Korbar.
“So we’re going to continue with them. The kids that are coming up, the freshmen that I let play this year, want to play. They had fun and had enthusiasm. So I look forward to gaining that and putting it together with the kids from this year. This program in and of itself is not dead, and won’t be dead.”
