Eisenhower battles state-ranked Cochranton

Eisenhower coach Scott Olson doesn’t want to sound like a broke record, but he knows how close his team is.

They took on Cochranton on Tuesday, the No. 2 ranked Class A team in the state, and fell by scores of 12-25, 8-25 and 17-25.

And while the result wasn’t what they wanted, the progress is.

“As good as Cochranton is, and they’re very good, they believe they are close to being at that level,” said Olson of his team. “When they lose, they’re frustrated, but it’s a whole different kind of frustrated from last season.”

Leading the Lady Knights were Currie Hultman (7 kills, 10 digs), Cameran Edwards (5 kills, 8 digs), Caroline Hishman (14 assists, 8 digs) and Catrina Edwards (8 digs).

“We really turned a corner about two weeks ago,” Olson said. “The girls have grown leaps and bounds, and they’re such a good group of girls to coach. Cochranton, when they get their chances, they really bury the ball, but we were making a lot of digs tonight.”

Eisenhower returns to action Thursday at Mercyhurst Prep.
