Dragons cruise to win

MEADVILLE, Pa. – In the final game of the regular season, the Warren Dragons boys soccer team rolled to a 7-1 win over Meadville, securing second place in Region 5 in the process.

The win was welcome, following a tough loss to General McLane on Saturday.

Tyler Gustafson and Caleb Lindell each had a pair of goals for Warren, while Ryon Flatt had there assists, Devon Navaroli a goal and an assist and Alex Ferry his first career varsity goal.

“We moved the ball pretty well tonight,” said Warren coach Denny Flatt. “It was nice to get back in the win column. We wanted to use this game to work on some plays and were able to play 23 players.”

It was also a big night for the JV team, as they capped off an unbeaten season with a 2-0 win.

Jake Funari also scored for the Dragons (11-6-1) and Lindell added an assist.

“It was nice to see them try some different things and play with confidence,” Flatt said. “I challenged them to come out and score quickly and they scored in 23 seconds”

JV: Warren 2, Meadville 0

A.J. Seyler scored on a pass from Ben Berdine and Ferry had a goal in this game as well in the Dragons triumphant victory that capped off a phenomenal season.

“It’s nice to know that we have a JV team that went undefeated,” Flatt said. “That has us feeling really good.”
