WCCS topples Erie First

Warren County Christian School improves to 8-3 with a 3-0 sweep against visiting Erie First Friday.

Improves is the key word, as WCCS won, 25-10, 25-19, 25-17, after beating Erie First in four games earlier this season.

It was the Lions’ fifth-straight win.

“I think this time the girls really found their chemistry and were getting energy from kills and good play,” said WCCS coach Mark Brenner.

Gwen Reed was a spark, improving her serving to the tune of 13 service points, two aces, 10 assists and three digs.

Emma Marino had 12 points, 11 kills, a block,. five digs and four assists; Krystal Kinney six points, four aces, five kills and two digs; Rachel Beatty nine points, one ace, two kills, 10 assists and three digs; McKenna Phelps five kills, three service points, and three digs; and Kiara Baker four service points and four kills.

WCCS has to ride the momentum into its two toughest opponents, hosting Slippery Rock on Monday, and Meadville Calvary Baptist Tuesday.

The Lions win the J.V. contest, 25-18, 25-10.

Reed again served well, with nine points and three aces, along with nine assists. Gracia Clark had four aces, three kills, two digs and a block. Baker seven service points, four aces, and three kills; Emily Cox six service points, two aces and a dig; Kinney two aces and two kills; and Jael Brenner had her first two kills of the season.
