Lady Knights topple Mercyhurst

Eisenhower showed how good it can be when firing on all cylinders in a 3-1 win over visiting Mercyhurst Prep Thursday.

The Knights rolled to a 25-16 win in the first set, dropped a 17-25 decision in the second and rallied for a 27-25 third set win before closing it out with a 25-19 win in the fourth.

“The first game was the way we are capable of playing, in control the whole time,” Eisenhower coach Scott Olson said.

Eisenhower had some trouble receiving the Lakers’ serves in the second game and it led to passing issues for the Knights.

“Give credit to Prep, they have two or three really nice servers with good float serves that were tough to return,” Olson said.

The issues continued for a time into the third until Cameron Edwards settled things for Eisenhower.

“Cameron Edwards really stepped up and started passing nails,” Olson said. “Once she did that, everyone followed suit. Then we started to run our offense and it was fun to watch.

“We got down and the girls just decided it was time to play,” he continued. “They fought hard. They overcame adversity. I’m proud of the girls.”

Eisenhower never trailed while putting the match away in the fourth.

“We came out in the fourth and wanted it more. We never let them get close,” Olson said.
