Knights travel to take on Northwestern

Ethan Chambers and Eisenhower travel to Northwestern in search of their second win.

After two near misses, Eisenhower left no doubt as the Knights rolled over Saegertown 52-6 for their first win of the season.

Eisenhower (1-3 overall, 1-1 Region 2) will undoubtedly face a tougher challenge this week at Northwestern (3-1, 1-0 Region 3).

The Wildcats began the year with what many viewed as an upset win over Greenville. They then outlasted Mercer at home before falling on the road at Wilmington. Northwestern is coming off a 40-13 triumph over an outmanned Seneca.

Ethan Chambers was dominant in Eisenhower’s win as he gobbled up 282 total yards and scored three times. The senior now has 285 yards and three TDs on the ground and 12 receptions for 172 yards and a score on the year.

“Ethan’s a hard nosed kid and a big part of what we can do offensively,” Eisenhower coach Jim Penley told the Times Observer after last week’s game.

Sophomore quarterback Owen Trumbull managed the offense well in the win. He threw for 139 yards, 2 TDs and a pick on 6-15 passing.

Not everything went as planned for Eisenhower. The Knights were flagged for 12 penalties in the win.

“We got a little sloppy,” Penley said. “We have the ability to be very, very good. We just need to be consistent.”

To win, the Knights will need to find a way to contain Jeremy Dohanic. The all-purpose back leads the Wildcats in both rushing (43 carries, 223 yards, 6 touchdowns) and receiving (5 receptions, 199 yards, 2 TDs).

Quarterbacks Derek Albert and Ryan Tewell have combined to go 24-45 for 457 yards, 4 TDs and six interceptions. Four receivers, including Dohanic, have at least 4 or more receptions on the year, but Dohanic is the only one with 100 or more receiving yards.

Kickoff at Roger’s Field is set for 7 p.m.; however, forecasted severe thunderstorms across the region have already postponed some District 10 games.
