Ike falls to Cambridge Springs

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Eisenhower is very close to competing with some of the best programs in District 10.

Tuesday was more proof of that in a 3-0 loss (14-25, 21-25, 15-25) to Cambridge Springs.

The scores don’t tell the story, however. Cambridge Springs is the defending region champ, which last year also included Maplewood, which won the Class 1A state title before bumping up to 2A this season.

“I certainly believe that the first and the third games aren’t indicative of how well we played,” said coach Scott Olson. “We just have to find a way to overcome some mental errors and we’ll prove that we’re as good as some of these teams.

Leading Eisenhower were Kiara Weber (3 kills, 10 digs), Cameran Edwards (4 kills, 7 digs), Tess Morningstar (2 kills, 2 aces), Currie Hultman (2 kills) and Caroline Hishman (11 assists, 11 digs).

“They’re the best team we’ve faced this season,” Olson said. “They’re very good, but we’re capable of playing with them.”

The JV team dropped a 2-0 decision, 13-25, 20-25. Paige Edwards (2 kills, 1 dig), Bridget Gourley (1 kill, 1 dig), Catrina Edwards (1 kill, 2 digs) and Destiny Nelson (1 kill).
