Lady Lions drop opener

Warren County Christian School’s Lady Lions came up just short of forcing a decisive fifth set, dropping a four set home match to Meadville Calvary Baptist on Friday.

Meadville took the first set 25-22 before Lady Lions rebouded to dominate the second set 25-6. After dropping the third set 25-21, Warren County Christian dropped a hearbreak fourth set, 31-29.

“Meadville is a tough league opponent and we love the competition,” Brenner said. “There were some good things to take away from this loss.

McKenna Phelps finished with 18 service points in addtion to eight aces while Rachel Beatty chipped in seven service points and nine assists. Emma Marino stuffed the stat sheet with six service points, two aces, 12 kills, one assist and three block kills.

Krystal Kinney added two kills and Kiara Baker had eight service points, two aces, six kills and one block kill.

“Our team showed fight and our in system offense was very productive. We were set back by too many service errors and poor passes to finish off the close sets with wins,” Brenner said.

The Lady Lions are in action next on Tuesday at Slippery Rock.
