Volleyball players from Warren Area High School finished third out of 19 teams this weekend at Penn State University’s Team Competition Camp in State College. The 19 teams got whittled down to the top seven playing in the Gold bracket on Sunday in the three-day camp. During pool play on Friday and Saturday Warren went 16-5 to earn the fourth seed heading into Sunday’s championship tournament. In the tournament, Warren finished third with wins over IPA Academy (Bergen County, N.J.) and Beaumont (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) before losing in a third-set tiebreaker to Lake Catholic High School (Mentor, Ohio). New Philadelphia (Ohio) defeated Avon (Ohio) for the championship. Dallastown was the other (7th place) team in the Gold tournament.
