Talasky, Shattuck earn Most Oustanding Track Athletes for second year in a row; Eisenhower girls, Warren boys claim Warren County Track Meet titles

It's been said, "the more things change, the more they stay the same."
The 2018 Warren County track meet moved to Sheffield for the year and featured a number of new faces, but the results compared to last year's meet were remarkably similar.
The Warren boys continued their dominance at the annual event, picking up another team win. The Dragons have won all but one of the team titles in the event's history. The Dragons finished with 96 points, followed by Youngsville (62), Sheffield (54) and Eisenhower (45)
For the girls, Eisenhower picked up its second straight team win, edging the Dragons by 6.5 points, 99.5-93. Youngsville (48) and Sheffield (13.5) rounded out the field.
The Knights' TerryLee Talasky and Warren's Troy Shattuck were named Outstanding Track Athletes for the second consecutive year. Youngsville's Jake Hogg and Warren's Lydia Latimer took home Outstanding Field Athlete honors.
Shattuck won the 400 and 800 and was part of the winning 1600 and 3200 relay teams. Talasky won the 100, 200 and 400, topping her own meet record in the 200. She won the 100 by more than a full second, the 200 by over two seconds and the 400 by six seconds. Latimer took top honors in the long and high jumps, and finished fifth in the triple jump. Hogg won the high jump, was third in javelin and fourth in long jump.
Warren's Kayla Giambrone was the only other female dual event winner (1600 and 3200). Youngsville's Aaron Morris swept the hurdles and was the only other male to win multiple events.
The boys 100-meter dash was the closest race of the day. Warren's Ben Thomas narrowly egded out Sheffield's Craig Price and his Dragon teammate Nathan Edwards. Thomas beat Prince by .02, and only .2 separated Thomas from Edwards.
A few freshmen made their mark on the event as well. Hogg will have lofty expectations heading into next year's event, but Eisenhower's Catrina Edwards (triple jump), Sheffield's Emily Leichtenberger (javelin) and Youngsville's Kayla Hecei (discus) all posted individual wins as well.
The host Wolverines also picked up a pair of district qualifiers. The 4×100 relay team of Cale Albaugh, Mitch McNeal, Zach McGraw and Caden Smead ran a qualifying time. Smead also qualified in the triple jump.
