Youngsville falls to Saegertown

Youngsville fell victim to a hot-hitting Saegertown squad in an 11-2 setback at Legion Field.

Josh Weaver had three hits and a pair of RBIs for Saegertown, while Steven Sipie was 2-for-2, with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Ryan Sherry and Jaden Reagle also had multiple hits for the Panthers.

Wesley Price struck out seven in earning the win on the mound, combining with Sherry and Frank Lezek.

Youngsville actually led the game 2-1 until a 6-run fourth inning for the Panthers turned the tide.

Nyko Mercado hit, a double in the third inning, which was immediately followed by an RBI double off the batt of Sam Hoover.

Alex Kerney started on the mound for the Eagles and pitched well into the fourth inning.

“Alex started and did a good job,” said Youngsville coach Kevin Hoover. “Defensively, the kids played really well, but Saegertown started hitting the ball in the fourth inning.”

Jacob DeSimone and Ian Morse followed Kerney on the mound.

Youngsville is scheduled to host Iroquois today, weather permitting.
