Lions punch ticket to tourney

The Warren County Christian School boys basketball team punched its ticket to the New Penn Christian Conference Tournament with a 53-36 win over Jamestown Bethel on Monday.

Ethan Kerr had a strong game with 13 points, while he and Jared Younger did a great job of facilitating the offense, as did point guard Josh Jones.

The Lions got out to an 11-4 lead after the first quarter and never trailed from that point forward.

“We were able to jump on them pretty good,” said WCCS coach Tom Jones. “We weren’t shooting the ball as well as we normally do,” but we really controlled the ball well.”

Jones had nine points, four rebounds and three assists, Steve Brenner seven points, four rebounds and three steals, Kerr six rebounds and three steals and Younger a whopping ten assists and 11 rebounds.

“Ethan Kerr had a really solid game and Jared Younger played real strong on the boards – they’re doing the small things that open up opportunities for their teammates,” coach Jones said. “Steve Brenner had a real strong game and Josh Jones continues to improve as our point guard. Brenner was giving up at least six inches on their tallest layer and did a great job of boxing out.”

The New Penn Christian Conference Tournament awaits on Friday.
