Lady Knights drop Region 3 battle

A closely contested, back-and-forth game through the first eight minutes, suddenly turned into a one-sided affair Thursday as Saegertown rolled to a 53-26 win at Eisenhower.

The Panthers (11-6 overall, 7-4 Region 3) outscored the Knights (7-11, 4-7) 41-6 over the second and third quarters.

“We came out and played a zone . . . the first quarter was slow-paced,” Eisenhower coach Mike Logue said. “Then (Carlie) Schlosser hit both of her three-pointers in the second, (Kaylee) Mulligan hit two shots. Then (Haley) Hess hit two. We couldn’t stop anything.”

Hess and Katelyn Young combined to score 18 of the Panthers 20 third-quarter points.

“Hess scored a lot on putbacks,” Logue said. “We had trouble rebounding tonight. They beat us on the boards.”

Hess had a game-high 18 points, Young had 14 and Schlosser 10 to lead Saegertown.

Haley Spicer and Emily Wheeler led the Knights with five points each. Delaney Nizzi had five assists in the loss.

The Knights travel to Youngsville Monday to face the cross-county rival in a key Region 3 contest.
