Bulldogs roll past Forest

The Tidioute Bulldogs just keep getting better and better.

Jared Veasey scored 28 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out seven assists as the Bulldogs led from start to finish in a 77-57 victory over Forest Area.

“Everything was clicking,” said Tidioute coach Terry Cotterman.

Veasey got it going early, as Tidioute outscored Forest 21-13 in the opening eight minutes.

Once the defense collapsed on Veasey, he was able to find open shooters on the perimeter, and the Bulldogs knocked down their looks.

“We talked about trying to get the ball inside early,” Cotterman said. “It’s the whole key. We can pound Jared inside and they double and that leaves someone open. They’re all good shooters and Jared’s a good passer.”

Indeed, as Veasey was one of four TCCS players in double figures scoring, with Ryan Williams connecting for 17, Julian Gillenwater 15 and Patrick Shields 11.

Tidioute scored 45 points in the first half in jumping out to a 16-point lead and kept pouring it on in the second half.

“We played pretty solid in the second half,” noted Cotterman. “We settled down and made our foul shots.”

Shields finished with 10 rebounds and five assists and Williams nine rebounds.

Seth Berlin, one of the top scorers in District 9, had a team-high 21 points for Forest.

“They trust each other,” Cotterman said of the way his team is playing. “Any given night, any one of them can score. We’ve also cut down on our turnovers.”

The Bulldogs have a big challenge on their hands Thursday when they travel to Fort LeBoeuf.

“We want to play quality teams,” Cotterman said.
