Warren County Christian school earns victory over Erie First
ERIE – Jared Younger scored 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as the Warren County Christian School boys earned a 43-36 win over Erie First Christian on Monday.
The Lions had a strong start, opening up a 16-4 lead after the first quarter en route to the win.
“We were much more assertive on the offensive end,” said WCCS coach Tom Jones. “Jared Younger had a really strong game and we got some really good minutes from his younger brother who came in and played excellent defense.”
Ethan Kerr had 12 points and Stephen Brenner eight for the winners. Younger was also 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-3 on 3’s.
“Both Jared and Stephen did a good job on the boards,” Jones said.
The girls, meanwhile, were on the short end of a 30-14 score.
Rachel Brenner, McKenna Phelps and Kiara Baker all had four points for WCCS.
“We haven’t had a game since before Christmas and came out a little flat,” coach Jones said. “We didn’t close the gap in the second half but really hustled and played much better. Becca Erdman and Rachel Brenner were outstanding on defense.”
WCCS returns to action on Friday, hosting Erie Bethel.
