Tidioute drops a pair to Commodore Perry

An 11-2 third quarter run lifted Commodore Perry to a 43-40 win over Tidioute on Friday.

The Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter and had a chance late to tie the game, but it went for naught.

“We had some good looks in the third quarter, they just wouldn’t fall,” said Tidioute coach Terry Cotterman. “We kind of rushed things a little bit in the third, but we settled down and made some adjustments.

Jared Veasey, returning from a minor injury sustained early in the Youngsville game, led the way for the Bulldogs with 14 points and eight rebounds.

“It was nice to get him back,” Cotterman said. “He’s probably one of the best players in the county that nobody talks about.”

Patrick Shields added six points, eight rebounds and four blocks and Ryan Williams 14 points.

Gavin Payne led Commodore Perry with 15 points.

GIRLS

C. PERRY 77, TIDIOUTE 33

Despite a monster game from Naikeisha Krouse, shorthanded Tidioute fell to Commodore Perry 77-33.

Starters Sunny Henderson (injury) and Greysen Fors (flu) weren’t able to play, leaving Tidioute with just five players.

“We knew going into it there would be no substituting tonight…at all,” said Tidioute coach Christy Valentine. “The girls played with heart and hustle tonight and played to the final buzzer. I’m proud of each and every one of them. Commodore Perry was a class act and both teams played ball hard and respectfully. I’ll chalk it up to another learning experience.”

Krouse scored 29 points for the Lady Bulldogs and also had 10 steals and two blocks.

“Nakiesha played her heart out,” Valentine said.

Shelby Proctor had nine reboudns for TCCS, while Brooke Shrock and Katie Wilkozz both had 10 points for CP.

Tidioute travels to Calvary Baptist in Meadville on Monday, with Valentine noting they should be back to full strength.”
