Strong finish nets Tidioute win over Calvary, 45-40

MEADVILLE – Back at full strength, the Tidioute Lady Bulldogs earned a 45-40 win over Calvary Baptist on Monday.

Nakiesha Krouse scored 18 points and Sunny Henderson 13 for the winners, who outscored Calvary 19-11 in the fourth quarter.

“Back at full strength with all seven girls,” said Tidioute coach Christy Valentine. “Going in at halftime we were tied 16-16. Both teams were playing a box and 1. Calvary on Krouse and us on Tapper. The girls need to step it up with Krouse being covered and in foul trouble. Calvary pulled ahead during the third quarter and then we went full court man to man. Nakiesha fouled out with four minutes left in the game and we were down by 3. The team stepped it up. Sunny Henderson had a tremendous four quarter with 8 points/”

Henderson hit a shot that put Tidioute up for good, and Shelby Proctor and Greysen Fors both played big roles offensively as well.

Up just one with 30 seconds left, Henderson pushed it up the floor and made a feed to Jess Riel, who made the easy layup.

The Lady Bulldogs then went into their full-court pressure, with Fors getting a steal and making a bucket with seven seconds left to seal the win.

“I am so glad the girls got the win tonight,” Valentine said. “We played together as a team.”

Krouse also had nine steals, while Henderson had a double-double with an incredible 16 rebounds to go along with her 13 points. Fors had six points and eight boards and Proctor six points, six rebounds and four assists.

Tidioute will look to continue its momentum when they travel to Union City on Wednesday.
