Winter storm forces Warren County School District to cancel all weekend events

Fridays in January haven’t exactly been as warm as “Tuesdays with Morrie” for the Warren County School District in 2018.

The district was forced to cancel all after school activities for the second straight week Friday. The cancellation includes all scheduled activities, including practices, Saturday as well.

Another week, another full slate of county sports postponed.

Here’s a rundown of announced makeup dates:

The Warren cheerleading teams will set to compete at the Elk County Catholic cheer competition Saturday. They will not be traveling to that event.

Eisenhower varsity boys basketball at Union City scheduled for Friday is rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 17 (the game at Sheffield originally scheduled for that day has been moved to Wednesday, Feb. 7). Their game scheduled for Saturday at Maplewood has also been cancelled with no makeup date announced.

The wrestling match between Warren and Redbank Valley will take place Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Warren Area High School. Additionally, the Dragons were scheduled to travel to Erie for the Tom Carr tournament Saturday. That has been moved to Monday, Jan. 15.

No makeup dates had been announced at press time for the Iroquois at Youngsville boys basketball game Friday, or the Rocky Grove at Sheffield girls game Saturday.
