DUBOIS – After getting out to a 7-2 lead halfway through the first period, Sheffield was outscored 16-2 over the remainder of the period, eventually falling in blowout fashion to DuBois Central Catholic in Girls hoops Friday, 50-28.

“We had great enthusiasm and effort early on. We fought some initial adversity and rough spots, then in the third quarter we fell flat,” said coach Brandon Troutman.

After playing a hard second quarter and keeping the game manageable, the Lady Wolverines cur the lead to six a minute into the second half, but that was as close as they’d come the rest of the way.

26 turnovers, many unforced, were a hinderance to Sheffield’s offensive flow, which was lacking most of the second half.

Sheffield also dropped the JV game, 36-19.

Sheffield, now 1-10 (0-3 AML) will hit the road for a non-league varsity only game today at Austin, with a 2 p.m. tip-off.
