Lady Eagles topple Forest Area
TIONESTA – Youngsville’s girls basketball team limited Forest to just six points in the second half as the Eagles rolled to a 34-22 win over their hosts Tuesday.
A strong net presence in the second half limited Forest’s second chance opportunities.
“We played really good defense in the second half,” Youngsville coach Andy Sveda said. “We were staying on net and boxing out. They weren’t getting second shots in the second half. It made a big difference.”
A second quarter offensive lull had the Eagles (4-4) down 16-11 at halftime.
“We started real well, moving the ball well, getting good shots and easy buckets,” Sveda said. “For some reason, it’s like they forgot what they were doing (in the second quarter).”
A 15-point outburst in the fourth backed the strong defensive effort.
“We upped our intensity a little bit,” Sveda said.
Youngsville will look to pick up its second Region 3 win of the season when the Eagles travel to Saegertown Thursday.
